Grain & Glory Board Care and Maintenance Guide

Cutting Board Care and Maintenance

Proper care will preserve the beauty, performance, and longevity of your wood cutting board. With proper care, your cutting board will provide years of reliable use and develop a rich, natural character unique to your kitchen.

Important Care Guidelines

  • Clean after each use.
  • Dry thoroughly
  • Store in a dry location
  • Do not soak
  • Do not submerge
  • Not dishwasher safe.

Excess moisture can cause wrapping or cracking.

Cleaning

  • Clean promptly after each use.
  • Wash with mild soap and warm water.
  • Rinse and wipe dry immediately.
  • Allow the board to dry upright or on its edge.

For additional treatment:

  • White Vinegar helps reduce odors and provides light disinfection.
  • A 3% hydrogen peroxide may be used for deeper sanitation.
  • Lemon or lime with salt naturally removes odors

Oiling and Conditioning

For newly cleaned boards:

  • Apply a generous coat of mineral oil or conditioner to all surfaces.
  • Allow the oil to absorb for 2-4 hours or allow the board to sit overnight.
  • Wipe away any excess with a clean cloth or paper towel.

If the grain feels slightly rough after oiling, lightly sand with 150 -180 grit sandpaper until it’s smooth to the touch, wipe clean, and reapply oil.

Routine Re- Seasoning

Wood naturally dries over time. Reapply mineral oil or conditioner when the board appears lighter in color or feels dry. For most boards conditioning every 2-4 weeks is recommended.
